Summary Description

Mentors thesis writers from across the curriculum in interdisciplinary writing workshops.

•Teach thesis writing adjunct courses (each worth .25 credits) during the academic year
•Organize and facilitate formal writing groups and informal writing groups that meet regularly over the course of a block or several blocks
•Coordinate additional programs for thesis writers: a workshop series on research, the writing process, and project management; writing retreats during block breaks and half-block
•Consult with thesis writers who could benefit from more sustained academic support and make referrals to the Writing Center
•Support MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) thesis writers during the summer
•Collaborate with professional and peer staff on Colket Center initiatives
•Conduct outreach to departments that assign senior theses and coordinate support for students
•Serve as a resource on best practices for advanced writing instruction
•Manage a small budget for programming

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree plus a minimum of two years of related experience teaching advanced writing classes at the college level; experience participating in and facilitating writing groups; proficient with computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and Canvas; Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic business math; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; excellent organizational and customer service skills; ability to work independently; knowledge of writing pedagogy and writing across the curriculum; ability to operate standard office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or a related field, or an M.F.A. in writing
